BASIC SEO TIPS FOR BEGINNING BLOGGERS

As a beginner blogger, I did not have any knowledge of or information on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and how important it is for a successful blog! So as I went searching for more information on it and how SEO would be be helpful to my blog!!! (PS: I am not an SEO expert, I'm just sharing the information I've learnt as a beginner that every other blogger should know!)
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a marketing tool used to raise a website's visibility in a search engine's unpaid results! Why is this important, you may ask! By increasing the visibility of your site/ blog in search engine results, more "unique" visitors will come across you site therefore more traffic for your blog which makes it more successful!
The most common ways by which people find out about blogs is by word of mouth, social media and search engines which is where SEO comes in! When people search for topics on search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo, sites with better SEO are easier found!
Here are some brief basic tips I found to improve your blog's SEO:
Select a keyword or key-phrase: Knowing the topic of your post, figure out the keyword or key-phrase, basically what you would type into google, be specific!
Choose a proper title: This is very important in SEO. Since it appears in the title bar, it's important to have the title as the first element in the browser's title bar! Also use keywords, no cute titles, use power words! For more information on titles, click here
Blog content: "Summarize compelling words in your description", this will help improve your post's ranking. Also including popular search terms/ phrases within a post. For example, "black friday 2015" is currently one of the most searched for topics on Google, by using black friday 2015 several times in a post (related to it of course), you increase your SEO therefore more traffic to your site!
Importance of images: In SEO, images searches are also important, by using keywords for your images so they can be easily found by search engines. Title the images with keywords so the post can be found easily. For more on images, read here
